The University Teachers Association (UTAG) has rejected moves by government to exclude the current KNUST, UTAG Chairman from the new Governing Council.
The new Council was expected to be announced yesterday (November 2), following the dissolution of the old body after violent students demonstration that led to the indefinite closure of University.
However, government is yet to submit the names of its representative on the Council, a situation that might delay the announcement of the new Governing Council for the KNUST and subsequently the reopening of the University.
In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, the National UTAG President, Dr Eric Opoku Mensah said government is imposing another UTAG representative on them aside from the current Chapter Chairman who by law is supposed to represent UTAG.
