The Regional Coordinator for Caye-West Africa, Bernard Oduro Takyi says the West African Examination Council( WAEC) should draw on a Systematic approach to conducting Examinations.
According to him, Ghana’s educational system is designed in a way that people learn to get admission in the various Universities rather than acquiring knowledge.
Meanwhile, the exigencies of the times required that people create impact and think more rather than, what he described as, ”chew and poor”.
” We praise WAEC because of ”chew and pour”, but they are not able to solve the problems of today”, he added.
” WAEC creates unnecessary competitions among students”, he lamented.
They are always bringing the results of schools that get more A’s and B’s rather than creating cooperation between them”, he added.
Mr. Bernard Oduro Takyi suggested to WAEC to look at the best ways of examining students, and how to develop the Educational system.
The Ghana Education Service and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)and other stakeholders are putting in place measures to curb Examination malpractice. This will be through serialization and digitization of Examination Questions.
