The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approached Egypt to host the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, following Cote d’Ivoire’s withdrawal as hosts due to government restrictions. With only a month left before the tournament kicks off, CAF is racing against time to find a new host, and Egypt has emerged as a strong contender.
Cote d’Ivoire’s withdrawal has put pressure on CAF to ensure the tournament proceeds as planned. The event, scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 18, 2025, also serves as a qualifier for the U-20 FIFA World Cup in Chile later this year. Egypt, with its excellent football infrastructure and experience in hosting large tournaments, has been in talks with CAF to take over as hosts.
