The Food and Drugs Authority, (FDA) has issued an immediate recall of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte, specifically the Tetra Pak 250ml and Canned 330ml Petillante variants, from the Ghanaian market due to safety concerns.
According to the FDA, the importer of these products has violated sections 97, 98, and 103 of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 859), as the products are unregistered, making their sale and distribution illegal.
Additionally, the packaging and size of the products are deemed deceptive and misleading, posing a potential risk of accidental alcohol ingestion by children, which could be harmful to their health and safety.

The FDA cautioned consumers against purchasing or consuming the unregistered products. Retailers and wholesalers are also advised to cease distribution and sale of these products immediately.
The statement said all stocks should be returned to the nearest outlets of Cave and Garden Ghana Limited and FDA’s offices nationwide.
The FDA has imposed sanctions on the importer and is making sure regulatory measures are being enforced.
The FDA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting health and safety and urged the public to report any information regarding the sale of the product through its official communication channels.
It urged the public to report any instances of the sale of these products via its official website (www.fdaghana.gov.gh), hotline (0551112224/5), or email (fda@fda.gov.gh).
