Data emanating from the electoral management body of Ghana, the Electoral Commission (EC), has it that 118 females filed to contest the 2024 Parliamentary elections across all 16 regions.
According to the Commission, 801 persons filed to contest for the 276 Parliamentary seats on December 7.
Regional break down
The Greater Accra region had the highest number of females (23) filing to contest the December 7 polls. Followed by the Ashanti (21), Central (14), Volta (12), Western (11), Eastern (8). While Upper East, Bono East, Oti, and Bono, had (5) each.
Northern and Upper West regions had three (3) females each. Western-North had just two female candidates, with Ahafo and North East recording zero (0), female candidates going into the 2024 parliamentary elections.
