Former President Mahama joins Dagbon for coronation of Yaa-Naa

Former President John Dramani Mahama has joined the people of Dagbon in Yendi for the coronation of the new Yaa-Naa, Abukari II, this morning.

The coronation, which will mark an epoch in the history of Dagbon, will also be attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who will be the Special Guest of Honour, while the President of the National House of Chiefs and Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State in the Volta Region, Togbe Afede XIV, will be the Chairman.

Also in attendance will be members of the Committee of Eminent Chiefs that crafted the road map to peace in Dagbon.

They are the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who chairs the committee; the Paramount Chief of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, the Nayiri, Naa Bohagu Abdulai Mahama Sheriga, and the Paramount Chief of the Gonja Traditional Area, the Yagbonwuura, Tuntumba Boresa II.

Mr. Mahama in a tweeted message congratulated the Yaa-Naa, Abukari Mahama II, and prayed for greater wisdom for as he begins reign.

According to the former president, “Dagbon will today showcase the rich tradition and culture of our people”.
