Following the recent overthrow of former President Ali Bongo of Gabon, there have been varied opinions about whether or not the country will return to its days of civilian or democratic era, even though the military junta has promised a return shortly.

The leader of the Gabon Military Junta, General Brice Nguema, is being sworn in as the country’s interim president following their suspension from the African Union. The leader, after his overtake, has received applause from both citizens of the country and within the African continent, amidst different opinions from security analysts.

Even though his swearing in as interim President ends the long dynasty created by the Bongo family in Gabon, it is speculated that it somehow forms a continuation of the Bongo lineage because he has served both the late Omar Bongo and the recently ousted Ali Bongo as military heads, and he is also speculated to be the cousin of the ousted President.

With the military group assuring the world and the continent a temporary military regime, the country has opened its borders that were closed due to the overtake to allow the continuation and free flow of trade.
