Vivo Energy Ghana Plc, the Shell Licensee, in line with its commitment to fostering quality education, has made a significant contribution to the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) “My First Day at School” initiative. This programme, which aims to provide a warm welcome to new entrants to Kindergarten 1 (KG1) and those transitioning to Basic 1, has received a boost with the donation of essential educational supplies from the company.

The donation package includes a variety of items needed for a successful start to the school year, including stationery, books, school bags, bottles of water, water bottles, natural juice, biscuits among others. These supplies will be distributed across various Districts and Regional Education Directorates, ensuring that young learners are well-equipped as they embark on their educational journey.

The “My First Day at School” initiative is an annual programme organised by the Ghana Education Service to create a positive and supportive environment for children beginning their formal education. By providing these educational supplies, Vivo Energy Ghana is helping to ensure that students have the resources needed to succeed from day one.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, Mr. Jean-Michel Arlandis, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, highlighted the importance of the donation: “Education is the foundation for a brighter future, and we are proud to support the Ghana Education Service since 2019 in welcoming young learners to school.  We believe that by supporting these young pupils through education, we are helping them grow and take ownership of their lives. Our contribution is part of our broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to supporting quality education in Ghana, and we hope that the items will help these children start their educational journey on the right  foot,” he said.

Madam Constance Baaba Boateng, Regional Basic Education Coordinator of the Ghana Education Service, commended Vivo Energy Ghana for their continuous support of the “My First Day at School” initiative year-on-year. “Vivo Energy Ghana’s commitment to quality education is remarkable and worth emulating. We have come once again as collaborators to help put smiles on the faces of Ghanaian  children,” she said.

Vivo Energy Ghana’s support for this initiative aligns perfectly with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which focuses on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
