Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially charged two Premier League clubs, Berekum Chelsea and Accra Lions, for failing to fulfill mandatory pre-match media obligations. The charges stem from the clubs’ failure to conduct pre-match interviews ahead of their highly anticipated Match day 26 encounter.
This decision underscores the GFA’s commitment to upholding its regulations and ensuring compliance across all clubs.
The GFA’s media regulations require coaches and players from both teams to engage in pre-match interviews as part of efforts to promote transparency, build fan engagement, and maintain the integrity of the league. However, Berekum Chelsea and Accra Lions reportedly did not meet this requirement, leading to the disciplinary action.
The GFA has emphasized that such obligations are non-negotiable and are essential for fostering a connected and informed football community in Ghana.

The two clubs are now expected to respond to the charges within the stipulated timeframe as the disciplinary process progresses.
While the GFA has not yet revealed the potential penalties, it is understood that violations of media regulations could result in fines, points deductions, or other sanctions.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of adherence to the association’s rules and the need for clubs to prioritize media engagements as part of their responsibilities.
This is not the first time Ghanaian football clubs have faced disciplinary action for similar breaches. In recent years, the GFA has consistently enforced its regulations to ensure that clubs maintain professional standards in all aspects of the game.
The decision to charge Berekum Chelsea and Accra Lions is part of a broader effort to streamline operations and uphold the integrity of the Ghana Premier League.
