The owner of football club Elmina Sharks, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has been formally charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following a contentious league match against Swedru All Blacks. The match, held at the Dr. Nduom Sports Complex, was marred by several incidents that have now drawn significant scrutiny from football authorities.

The incident in question occurred during a penalty decision that led to disruption in the match. Dr. Nduom entered the field without the necessary authorization, attempting to protest the referee’s decision.

His actions not only interrupted the game but also drew a harsh reaction from match officials, raising concerns about the conduct of team ownership during competitive matches.

Beyond the immediate disruption, the GFA has accused Dr. Nduom of inciting his team’s players, officials, and fans against the match officials. According to sources, he used social media platforms to encourage further tension, instructing club officials and fans to confront the referees. These actions have been described as inflammatory, potentially contributing to an atmosphere that led to altercations with match officials.

As a result of these allegations, Dr. Nduom now faces serious charges, including breaches of the Division One League Regulations and the GFA Disciplinary Code.

The association has given him until Wednesday, February 19, 2025, to submit a formal response.

The football community is eagerly anticipating his defense, as the GFA is poised to take decisive action to restore discipline and fairness within the league.
