The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has handed down a stern punishment to Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, president of Elmina Sharks, following his misconduct during a match against Swedru All Blacks United FC. Dr. Nduom has been fined GHS10,000 and given a suspended three-month ban for interfering with the game, inciting players against match officials, and making provocative social media comments.
According to reports, Dr. Nduom’s actions were deemed unacceptable, as he entered the team’s technical area without authorization and gestured aggressively towards the officials after a decision went against Elmina Sharks.
His post-match comments on social media further fueled tensions, provoking fans and players with his criticism of the officiating.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee has warned Dr. Nduom that any future violations will lead to stricter punishment, including a potential stadium ban. Elmina Sharks have also been instructed to educate their management and staff on respecting match officials and the integrity of the game.
Dr. Nduom has seven days to appeal the decision, but if the punishment stands, it will be a significant blow to Elmina Sharks. The club will need to take steps to ensure that their management and staff understand the importance of respecting match officials and the game’s integrity.
