Ghana has taken a significant step forward in its partnership with Norway as a high-level Norwegian delegation, led by Minister of International Development, Ausmund Aukrust, visited the country.
The delegation was warmly received by Ghana’s Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, as both nations reaffirmed their commitment to advancing sustainable fisheries, empowering women in the sector, and addressing climate-related challenges.
The partnership emphasizes the vital role women play in post-harvest processing and trade, with a strong focus on their empowerment as a key strategy for success.

Programmes like the Fish for Development Program and the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF) Nansen Program are pivotal in enhancing cooperation between Ghana and Norway. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is also offering support to improve nutrition, boost food safety, and minimize post-harvest losses.
Both countries have committed to addressing critical issues such as overfishing, the effects of climate change, and weak value chains to safeguard livelihoods and protect marine ecosystems.
The collaboration seeks not only to preserve marine resources but also to stimulate economic growth and contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At its core, the partnership reflects a shared vision between Ghana and Norway to promote sustainable fisheries, improve food security, and foster economic development for their populations.
