Chief Executive of the National Vaccine Institute, Prof. William Ampofo, says the institute is developing a comprehensive communication strategy to raise awareness and promote acceptance of vaccines produced in Ghana.

The document, which draws lessons from COVID 19, will address the safety concerns of the public over locally produced vaccines to restore confidence in the populace.

Ghana has been intensifying vaccine manufacturing initiatives for local production that will serve the country, Africa, and the world at large.

Speaking on GBC’s current Affairs Programme ‘Talking Point‘, which discussed Ghana’s vaccine manufacturing journey, Prof. Ampofo underscored the need for all stakeholders in vaccine manufacturing and research to come together to ensure the success of the project.

The Chief Executive of Atlantic Life Science, which is Ghana’s first vaccine plant, Dhananjay Tripathi, said they are currently in the final stages of production, which will commence early next year. He said the project is being expanded to cover the entire country.

The Chief Executive of the Food and Drugs Authority, Dr. Mimi Delese Darko, said Ghana will rise to challenges that may come along with the implementation of the project. She said the capacity of staff is being built to meet the task and ensure quality and the general well-being of the public.
