Flagbearer of the All Peoples Party, Hassan Ayariga, has petitioned the Electoral Commission to disclose reasons for disqualifying certain political parties.
Speaking during a crunch meeting with the Electoral Commission and all qualified political parties regarding the re-exhibition of the provisional voters register, Mr Hassan Ayariga emphasized that disclosing the reasons for disqualification would help the affected parties understand their mistakes.
He urged the EC to publish the disqualification reasons to help parties identify their mistakes.
“We cannot sit down with all this credibility and somebody will say that we are not worth it. Then they should mention the parties that are not worth it. Including the parties that mention it”.
“Send cases of improper form filling to the police for investigation and prosecution. This will prevent unnecessary court cases and maintain EC credibility.” Mr Ayariga said.
He also urged the Electoral Commission to address the needs of people living in remote areas who lack access to smartphones.
“There are a lot of people who do not have phones in this country. Especially smartphones. And there are some coming from the villages”.
Mr Ayariga emphasized the Electoral Commission’s responsibility in ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election.
He pointed out Ghana’s high illiteracy rate, especially in rural areas, and underscored the necessity for effective solutions.
