Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has appealed to President Akufo-Addo to postpone the distribution of ambulances to the 275 Constituencies which were expected to be commissioned TODAY.
This is because all is not set for efficient and effective use of the ambulances.
The Health Minister’s advice follows a plea by the CEO of the National Ambulance Service, Prof. Ahmed Zakariah. A letter by the Health Minister to President Akufo-Addo references concerns raised by the management of the National Ambulance Service, which requests the postponement of the inauguration of the ambulances.
The concerns raised by the National Ambulance Service involves the training of staff and paramedics to use the ambulances and medical equipment, and the installation of the Digitized ICT Dispatch System, also includes issues of the yet to be completed installation of tracking devices to ensure that the locations of all ambulances are known at every point in time.
The National Ambulance Service, suggests in its letter that the ceremony be held on January 28 by which time all the works would have been completed.
