The Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, has appealed to doctors to accept postings to rural areas in order to achieve universal access to health care delivery.
Currently there are 7,500 doctors in service, with 52% in Accra and 18% in Kumasi. This ratio, the Minister said, is worrying as some districts have no doctors.
Speaking at the induction ceremony of 387 trained doctors, Mr Agyemang Manu said government is putting in measures to improve the working conditions of doctors.
