Malaria cases in the country continue to increase in Ghana despite the introduction of numerous interventions by government and other private companies to alleviate it. It is against this backdrop that Bliss GVS Pharma Limited, ahead of World Malaria day which falls on Monday, April 25, 2022 donated anti-malaria drugs worth GHC 30,000 to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi.

Presenting the items, a Medical Representative with Bliss GVS, Justice Yalley said the donation is part of the company’s social corporate responsibility by donating to Regional and Teaching Hospitals in the country in the fight against malaria. According to him, their target is the poor and vulnerable in society who are unable to afford drugs for the treatment of Malaria. He mentioned S, Lonart tablets, Lonart Suspension, Lonart Dispersible and Leonard Forte tablets as some of the drugs being distributed.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Hospital, Head of Pharmacy at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Francis Darko Afare said Leonart has become a household name due to its efficacy in treating Malaria. According to him some patients are unable to afford drugs due to its high cost and the donation will go a long way to support such patients as well as those who patronize the facility.

He gave the assurance that the hospital will use the drugs for its intended purpose. He mentioned that the donation is timely as it will reduce the quantity of anti-malaria drugs the hospital will purchase in terms of cost. Mr. Darko Afare noted that Malaria cases make up 30% of all OPD cases and as such the donation will help salvage the situation.
