The last batch of Pfizer Vaccines donated by the US government to Ghana has been delivered to the Ministry of Health.

This brings the total number of Pfizer Vaccines to about three point four million.

So far, Ghana has received more than seven million Johnson and Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer Vaccines from the United States Government since September this year through the COVAX facility.

According to the Head of the Expanded Programme on Immunization, Dr. Kwame Amponsah-Achiano, Ghana’s Vaccines Stock now stands at about twenty-four million doses.

Yet, just about eight million doses have been administered.

About six million people have received their first dose, while 2.3 million people are fully vaccinated. Dr. Amponsah-Achiano encouraged those who are yet to be vaccinated to do so.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has disclosed that Ghana has already entered its fourth wave of COVID-19 infections.

With Over three point two million active cases, officials describe as alarming the daily cases recorded. There are about twenty-four severe cases and one thousand three hundred deaths.

Early this week, the US again announced about half a billion support to the UN and its agencies. This is to enable multilaterals to strengthen efforts made at ending the pandemic, improving upon the public health systems and providing urgent relief.

The US Ambassador, Stephanie Sullivan entreated Ghanaians not to sit idle for the vaccines to expire and rather go for the jabs.
