The Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Badu Sarkodie, says  Ghana is investigating the two suspected cases of coronavirus infection.

The Ministry, he says is carrying out further assessment and laboratory tests and that the results would be known by the close of the day today (February, 6).

Two foreigners – a Chinese and an Argentine, reported to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), with symptoms of the virus on Wednesday, February 5.

The patients who have been in Ghana for a while now have been isolated at the facility.

Dr. Badu said the Ministry of Health is taking measures to prevent and protect citizens against the virus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that there are “no-known effective” treatments for it.

Dr. Sarkodie postulated that, KBTH has the requisite health professionals and resources to handle any suspected cases.

He, therefore, called for calm and asked that everybody kept to the preventive measures announced by the Health Ministry.
