Accra Metropolitan Assembly, AMA is raising serious concern over sanitation issues at some food joints in the metropolis.
One of such joints is the Las Palmas restaurant at Kwame Nkrumah Circle which has been shut down by AMA over insanitary conditions under which the food is prepared and sold.
The popular food joint with branches across the country was cited for operating without a dedicated toilet facility.
None of the workers was able to show a medical certificate qualifying them to sell food to consumers.
Public Relations Officer of AMA, Gilbert Ankrah told Nathaniel Nartey that the food joint has been shut down effective today July 22 until management is able to satisfy all sanitary requirements.
Officials from the AMA earlier visited the Avenor slaughterhouse where routine screening of workers revealed that four persons tested positive for typhoid and Hepatitis B.
Mr Ankrah said yesterday’s visit showed an improvement in the sanitation situation at the Avenor Slaughterhouse.
