Upper East: Chiana Maternity Health Centre needs urgent refurbishment

The Maternity Ward of the Chiana Health Centre in the Upper East Region is in dire need of renovation. The roof leaks and the paint is worn out making it appear unattractive for women in labour. This was revealed by the General Secretary of TIINA TU Chiana to round off their annual congress at Chiana.

According to GBC’s Peter Agengre TIINA TU Chiana, TTC is a registered organization in the Kassena Nankana West District whose main focus is to initiate programmes and plans for the development of Chiana. The group was formed during the surge of Covid-19 in 2020 with only 12 members but has now grown to become a whole tree with many branches in different parts of the country.

At the 2022 Annual Congress held at Chiana, the General Secretary of the Association, Rockborn Aduah said they have been able to mobilize their members from different parts of the world to come together for a common goal.

According to him, they have offered logistics to schools and health facilities since the creation of the Association. He noted that the rehabilitation of the Chiana Health Centre’s Maternity ward came top in the number of projects they have earmarked for intervention.

The Member of Parliament of the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Mr. Thomas Dalu Adda commended TTC for their efforts in fostering development of the Chiana area. He promised them his readiness to support them in the renovation and maintenance of the Maternity Ward. He encouraged them to stay focused as development partners.

The theme for the congress was “Bringing Development to Chiana and its Environs.
