The Ministry of Health (MoH) has directed that all non-essential travels to China be avoided or delayed due to the Coronavirus.

So far 259  people have been confirmed dead with nearly ten thousand people, mainly in China, being infected since the virus emerged in December.

More than 100 cases have been reported outside China, in 22 countries. Ghana is yet to report a case.

In a statement issued in Accra on the country’s preparedness towards a possible outbreak, Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu gave the assurance that the Ministry is doing all it can to ensure that Ghanaians are protected against the coronavirus.

The statement said there will be a National Technical Committee Coordination (NTCC) to review the resilience of the country’s current arrangements to prevent an outbreak.
