The Asante Mampong Government Hospital now has a 3,000-watt standby solar panel and a mechanized borehole. The 10,000 dollar project, delivered by Shalom Outreach Incorporated, in the USA, is aimed at addressing water crisis and frequent blackouts at the labour unit of the hospital.

The U.S. charitable group, led by Pastor Julian Dangerfield, Bishop Daniel Robertson Junior, and a former moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, now resident in the USA, Very Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong Manso, handed over the project to the management of the hospital. The standby solar panel is expected to ensure reliable power supply and reduce maternal deaths during caesarean sections, while the mechanized borehole guarantees constant water supply.

Mothers, newborns and young children can now receive quality healthcare at the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. At a mini-durbar held in honour of the team, Very Rev. Yaw Frimpong Manso commended the management of the hospital who supervised the projects for ensuring speedy completion.

He explained that the group has over the years evangelized in Ghana and other African countries, ”through which they became familiar with water, health, and educational challenges in Ghana”.

The leader of the Shalom Outreach Incorporated, Pastor Julian Dangerfield said the project is one of many the group has undertaken in Africa as serving people.

The Medical Superintendent of the Mampong Government hospital, Dr. Baffour Dwumah Kesse was grateful, and appealed to others for more support.
