Stakeholders in Medical profession urged to uphold ethical standard

Registrar of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council, Dr. Divine Banyubala, has urged stakeholders to do their utmost best under any circumstances to uphold professional standards of the noble profession in the country.

He indicated that a poorly-trained Medical Professional is not only a liability, but poses a threat to society.

It is therefore incumbent on them to stay true to their oaths and be guided by their undertakings of saving lives and serving humanity.

Dr. Banyubala said this at a media briefing in Accra which highlighted 50 years of Medical Regulation in Ghana.

The Medical and Dental Council is a statutory Agency under the Ministry of Health is aimed at securing in the public interest the highest standards in the training and practice of medicine and dentistry in Ghana.

The Registrar of the Council, Dr Divine Banyubala said 50 years of existence of any entity is no mean achievement.

He indicated that though the Council has encountered some challenges, practitioners have been able to deliver on their mandate.

He gave the assurance that these notwithstanding, the Council will continue to work with all stakeholders to guide the profession, promote, protect and ensure public health, safety and well-being of people accessing health care in Ghana.

Dr. Banyuabala highlighted some programmers lined up for the anniversary. He said a conference will be held on 29th to 31st of this month which will be attended by the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and a host of professors across the country.

The theme for the anniversary is “Reflection on 50 years of Medical regulation.”
