Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has disclosed that he did not receive any financial compensation during his extensive tenure with the Black Stars.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Daara addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the significant payments made to the Management Committee members of the national football team, which have raised eyebrows among fans and stakeholders.

Following Ghana’s participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar, reports indicated that each member of the Management Committee received a lucrative sum of $100,000. This disclosure has prompted questions about the distribution of financial rewards within the GFA, especially in contrast to the experiences of long-serving staff like Daara. His comments shed light on the disparities in compensation that have emerged in the wake of the World Cup.
Daara, who dedicated nearly a decade to the Black Stars and is currently a Senior CAF Media Officer, expressed his discontent over the lack of financial recognition for his contributions to the team.
“When I was working with the Black Stars, I did not get anything,” he stated during the interview, highlighting the disconnect between the management’s financial rewards and the efforts of those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
In light of these revelations, Daara has called on the GFA to improve its communication and engagement with the government.
He emphasized the importance of clarifying the rationale behind compensating Management Committee members, especially when those who contributed significantly to the team’s success have received no financial acknowledgment.
