The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, says if he were the President of Ghana, half of the members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would have fled Ghana by now due to their alleged wrongdoing while in power.
Speaking in an interview on Star FM, Gbande explained that former President John Mahama has been very tolerant and moderate in his leadership approach.
“President Mahama has always tried to be in the middle. Some of the people making noise today should be thankful to him. If it were me, half of the NPP people would have left this country already,” he said.
Gbande stressed that he does not support false accusations or damaging reputations without evidence, but said he stands by his claims based on what he knows. According to him, he would not tolerate individuals who misuse public resources if he were in charge.
“I don’t believe people who take what belongs to the poor should walk free. When I see some of them come back and speak loudly, I feel sad. Their actions have caused serious pain to many ordinary Ghanaians,” he added.
He blamed poor leadership for the high levels of poverty and hardship in the country, saying that some women have been forced into prostitution to feed their children due to economic hardship.
Gbande also accused the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government of failing to prioritize the needs of ordinary Ghanaians during its eight years in office.
