Serbian Tennis Player, Novak Djokovic missed the chance to win the 100th title of his career when Jannik Sinner won the Shanghai Masters final.

Jannik Sinner, a 23-year-old Sinner, who is ranked world number one, defeated the 37-year-old Djokovic 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in a high-level match.

Djokovic was trying to become the third man ever to reach 100 titles, joining Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103). Despite the loss, the 24-time Grand Slam winner remains focused on his goal. He said he will keep trying to reach the milestone but doesn’t see it as essential since he has already achieved his biggest career goals.

“I will keep working to make it happen soon… It’s not an all-or-nothing goal for me. I have already achieved my biggest dreams in tennis. Now it is about focusing on Grand Slams and seeing how far I can push myself”, said Djokovic whose only major win this year was the Olympic gold medal which had previously escaped him.

Sinner, meanwhile, secured his seventh title of the year, even though he still faces an unresolved doping case despite initially being cleared. The Italian has had a remarkable season, winning major titles like the Australian Open and US Open, and achieving 65 wins out of 71 matches in 2024.
