Ghanaian actor, entrepreneur, and farmer John Dumelo has been appointed as the Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture.
The announcement was made on February 5, 2025, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson for President John Dramani Mahama in a press release.
Dumelo, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has been a strong advocate for agriculture, investing in crop and livestock farming over the years.
He established Farmeo Limited at East Legon Hills, Accra, growing lettuce, cherry tomatoes, chili peppers, and carrots, while also engaging in snail farming. His produce is supplied to local grocery stores and exported to India.
Beyond farming, Dumelo pursued formal training in agronomy to deepen his expertise, reinforcing his commitment to modernizing agriculture.
His appointment is widely seen as a strategic choice, leveraging his practical experience and advocacy to drive growth in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
