Krachi Senior High School (KRASEC), has launched its 50th anniversary in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region.
Krachi Senior High School was established as one of the Ghana Education Trust Schools in September 1971 with a population of 70 Students and Five Teachers.
The first Headmaster, Mr. Tsitsiku, led the first batch to write their GCE ‘O’ level examination.
Currently, the school has 1,587 students. Out of this, 1,307 are boarders, while 280 are day students.
The staff is made up of 75 teachers, 41 non-teaching staff. Uncompleted girls’ dormitory, use of the school as a through route, stray animals, inadequate teachers for some selected subjects, non-teaching staff, and accommodation for staff are some of the challenges the school is facing, as listed by the headmaster.
Mr. Cole said Krachi Senior High School has, over the years, continued to register improvement in academic performance. In 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015, the school recorded between 100%, 99%, 92%, and 97%, respectively.
In 2021, among the twenty-five (25) Senior High Schools in the Oti Region, Krasec placed 11th and 10th in 2022.
He added that for three years running, the school has secured qualification as the school to represent the Region at the National level for the National Science and Math Quiz.
