Mr. Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku, being the youngest aspirant and for the first time contesting in the National Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries, failed to make it in the top five candidates elected for the final elections on November 4, 2023, to elect the flag bearer for the 2024 elections.
Out of the 926 votes which were cast, he had only 3 votes, rendering him the eighth position out of the ten. in the National Patriotic Party (NPP) Primaries held on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
What have been his expectations, and what is he up to now? He spoke in an interview with the host of Rainbow Radio 87.5 fm.
“I was expecting a lot more votes because I was assured of massive votes by the committee after I discussed my policies with the regional and constituency executives, and I was assured they would ensure I’m part of the top five aspirants. I also promised to be of support in solving their problems when I’m elected, but the votes I had is contraly to what they said, which to me means they didn’t buy into my policies and plans,” he said.
He also added, “I am not disappointed in myself but going forward I will be skeptical about the strategy used: honesty, good governance, transparency, and accountability. I will learn from the existing politicians to be better next time.”
He also put a disclaimer on the video going viral with Chairman Wontumi stating his disqualification in an election as Minister for Parliament (MP), that is not true.
He promised to return to the next contest for an NPP flagbearer in the future.
