Libya’s UN-recognised Prime Minister has begun a short visit to Europe to seek allies in his struggle against a rogue military commander.
Fayez al-Sarraj will first go to Italy, the former colonial power, before traveling on to Germany for talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel.
He is expected to meet the French President Emmanuel Macron tomorrow, whom he has criticized for supporting his rival, Gen Khalifa Haftar.
Meanwhile, the UN is investigating the use of Chinese drones by General Haftar, in an apparent violation of an arms embargo on the warring parties.
