The LPG Marketers Association of Ghana is demanding compensation ahead of the full implementation of the Cylinder Recirculation Module, CRM programme.

The demand follows notification by the National Petroleum Authority, NPA that the phase one of the project will commence in September 2023.

The NPA said it will start re-examination of all LPG re-filling outlets in order to reclassify them.

The Association however emphasised that the successful implementation of the CRM will depend on the mutual understanding and buy-in of all stakeholders. To this end, it is important  for the NPA to be fair to all stakeholders, including the current operators who have sustained the industry for years.

The LPG Marketers noted that it is impractical to procure new trucks to transport bottles in six weeks. They are  therefore appealing to the NPA to give them adequate time to adjust to the new situation.

The LPG Marketers in a statement signed by the Chairman, Mallam Bukari Amadu said the marketers deserve compensation for their investment into the sector in view of the potential challenge the CRM in its current form will present to them.
