In a pointed critique of the Finance Minister’s budget presentation made in Parliament today, the Minority Leader, Mr Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has accused the government of presenting what he called an “Azaah” or misleading budget.
His remarks were made following the presentation of Part 2 of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s budget, which he claimed failed to address key economic issues effectively.
“This is nothing more than part two of the NDC’s lamentations series,” Afenyo Markin said, expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s fiscal plans.
He emphasized that the budget lacked clear, actionable strategies to tackle Ghana’s economic challenges and was, in his view, a continuation of the government’s tendency to deflect responsibility.
His criticism comes as the government’s budget continues to face scrutiny, with opposition figures demanding more robust measures to address Ghana’s fiscal and economic difficulties. As the debate intensifies, both sides are expected to engage in further discussions over the budget’s effectiveness in driving long-term national development.
