Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has strongly criticized the Minority Leader for failing to thoroughly vet the Greater Accra (G/A) Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, describing his actions as a neglect of duty.
Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show on February 5, 2025, with host Kafui Dey, Mahama Ayariga expressed disappointment in how the vetting process was handled. He revealed that the Minority Leader himself admitted on television that he was persuaded not to proceed with his responsibilities, a move Ayariga finds unacceptable.
“As a Minority Leader, you have the obligation to do your work well, and if he would sit on television and say that he was begged not to do his work and didn’t do his work, he should probably be held accountable,” Ayariga stated.
His comments have sparked debate over the integrity and diligence of the vetting process, with concerns that political influence may have compromised the scrutiny of Mrs. Ocloo’s qualifications.
