A group calling itself the National Caucus of NDC Parliamentary Aspirants has called on the former Chief of Staff to the former President John Dramani Mahama, Julius Debrah, to discuss the group’s unflinching support for the party’s victory.

The group consists of more than 500 former aspirants, including the outgoing sitting MPs in all 16 regions, with the MP for Sagnarigu Constituency in the Northern Region, Alhassan Bashir Alhassan Fuseini, as the National Chairman.

The visit to the office of Mr. Debrah is to officially announce their existence to him and table their main objectives before the party ahead of the electioneering year and other related matters therein.

Speaking to journalists on behalf of his colleagues after a closed-door meeting, the National Deputy Secretary of the group, one of the aspirants for the just-ended NDC Parliamentary Primaries at Sege, Fred Sebi-Doku, said their principal aim among their objectives is to help the party with “our human resources, our logistics, and other materials needed for an effective campaign going into the 2024 general elections.

He stressed the point that they are not going to support only the flagbearer win, but they are also going to help various PCs nationwide for the party to secure more parliamentary seats too.

According to him, after primaries, some of the defeated candidates may want to leave the party for one reason or another or just get peeved for various reasons, “but we don’t want to entertain such situations in this election because this election is very crucial, both for Ghana as a whole and the NDC as a party, and we don’t want to disappoint Ghanaians”.

Hence, we have gathered all the aspirants who are not successful in the election, brought them together, and tried to heal their wounds and make peace with all of them so that they would all come together and form part of the party to win the election.”

He revealed that Mr. Debrah was happy and described the group as a novelty.

He again called on all Ghanaians to vote for the NDC in the coming general election, “and we are also sending a warning to the NPP that we are more united than ever in the history of our political landscape. So they should not try it; they should not dare any mischief..

Adding his voice, the National Public Relations Officer for the Group, Rev. James Ofoe Batsa, said they have decided to come together to fight for the Party in order to win and rescue Ghanaians from the current economic hardship under Nana Addo and his team.

“The reason been that the country itself is at such a critical stage that we see ourselves being divided as a very big disadvantage to the party, and since we don’t want that to happen, we thought it wise to form this because just a day after the primaries.”
