A new leadership composition has been established in Ghana’s 9th Parliament with the election of two new Deputy Speakers. Bernard Ahiafor, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akatsi South constituency in the Volta Region, has been elected as the 1st Deputy Speaker.
Mr Bernard Ahiafor was a member of the 6th and 7th Parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC)
His nomination, put forward by the NDC, was seconded by the Deputy Minority Leader, garnering strong support.
Additionally, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, the MP for Fomena Constituency, has also been elected as the 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, further solidifying the leadership team for the new parliamentary session.
The election of the Deputy Speakers followed the official inauguration of the 9th Parliament today January 7, 2025.
