A survey by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research on Tuberculosis indicates that the bacteria that cause the disease is developing resistance to drugs.
Director of the Institute, Professor Abraham Annan, said prevalence of T.B in Ghana is under control and there is need for intensive surveillance mechanisms to avert any epidemic.
Professor Annan was speaking at the West African Node of Excellence for TB, AIDS and Malaria, ‘WANETAM’ retreat in Accra.
Participants were informed that a new malaria vaccine for children has been developed and currently under consideration by WHO.
