The Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called for unity among party members and sympathizers to facilitate a smooth primaries and selection of a Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), come November, 2023.

“…. So that you will look after this process in the interest of our party because we are all one and we are going to break the eight”, he said.

Dr. Bawumia, who was accompanied by his wife the Second Lady of Ghana, Samira Bawumia and other dignitaries of NPP, current and past Parliamentarians, filed for his nomination amidst a mammoth of followers at the Party’s headquarters in Accra on June 16, 2023.

In his address to the crowd gathered at the forecourt of the Party’s headquarters, Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to the people present for the support they have given to him ever since he made a bid to contest the Flagbearer position on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.

He mentioned that his filing signals the beginning of the NPP’s victory in the 2024 general election. He stressed on the significance of honesty, hard work, dedication and discipline as the virtues that have transformed him as a young boy from SakaSaka in the Northern Region of Ghana to the Jubilee House as the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.

He further mentioned that, the achievements of the Akufo-Addo led government cannot be left in the hands of the NDC who is poised to take the country backwards. He added that the NDC has no understanding and believes in the vision of transforming Ghana into a world competing country.

He stated that there is so much to be done by the NPP government, the main reason for them to be kept in government rather than allowing the NDC to take over.

“It is very important that we don’t go backwards as a country. We cannot put this country back in the hands of people who have no understanding and a belief in this vision. That is why it is important for us to break the eight. There is still so much more to do”, he added.
