The Ghana Police Service has reminded the Public, particularly faith-based organizations to operate within the confines of the laws of the country and desist from publishing false news.

The Police in a Statement said so far faith-based groups and individuals have complied with the communication on prophecy, thereby protecting the rights and freedom of those who are affected by these prophecies, as well as fostering a society free of needless panic, fear and alarm.

According to the Police Service, which has christened December 27 as Prophecy Communication Compliance Day, the public especially faith-based groups and individuals need to continue to be patriotic and abide by the law, to ensure that the prevailing state of law, order and security in the country is maintained.

The Police Service reiterated, that while the 1992 Constitution and democratic values of the country, guarantee a right to freedom of religion and speech, the enjoyment of these rights is subject to respect for the rights and freedoms of others and public interest.
