President Akufo-Addo has paid glowing tribute to South African anti-apartheid leader Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who died on Sunday, December 26, 2021 aged 90.

President Akufo-Addo described him as “one of Africa’s most noble, patriotic sons” who “run his race set before him, and leaves behind indelible footprints in the sands of time.”

In a Facebook Post, President Akufo-Addo recounted the role the iconic Nobel Peace Prize winner played in the history of Africa’s struggle for “freedom from colonialism, imperialism and the racist ideology of apartheid” adding that Africa’s history has been enriched by the contributions of the “jovial, dedicated and principled defender of the liberties and rights of Africans and oppressed peoples of the world.”
