President Akufo-Addo has justified the need to raise more money through taxation to bridge the infrastructural gap in the country. He said Ghana cannot continue to depend on foreign aid and grants to prosecute its developmental agenda.

President Akufo-Addo said this when the Chiefs and Elders of the Dzodze Traditional area in the Volta Region, paid a courtesy call on him at the Jubilee House. He noted that his administration is determined to use all available means to push through its development agenda.

The visit to the Jubilee House by the Chiefs and Elders of the Dzodze Traditional Area was to congratulate the President on winning the 2020 General election and also to thank him for the numerous developmental projects undertaken by his administration in the area, as well as expanding the system that supplies water to the people.

President Akufo-Addo said the government will continue to persevere to find the means to address challenges in the country. He noted that, ”it has become necessary to generate more revenue internally and not depend on aid”.

On the demands by the Chiefs, President Akufo-Addo assured the delegation that their requests will be given the attention it deserved by the relevant State institutions.
