Three thousand, two hundred and ninety-four (3,294), delegates of the ruling New Patriotic Party, (NPP) are expected to cast their votes in the Six (6) Orphan constituencies of the Upper West region.
The constituencies are Wa Central, Nadowli-Kaleo, Lambussie, Jirapa, Wa West and Daffiama-Issa-Bussie.
Twenty-four candidates including four women are contesting in the elections.
The Regional Director of Electoral Commission, (EC), Ali Adamu Osman at the Regional police Headquarters on Friday, evening distributed the election materials to the Municipal and District Directors of EC where the elections are to be held to ensure that the materials reach their destinations on time for voting to start.
Representatives of some of the contestants, regional and national executives as well as the Regional Police Commander DCOP Aboagye Nyarko witnessed the exercise.
Materials distributed were albums containing names of delegates, ballot papers, result sheet and a list of proxy voters for only Wa Central constituency.
Regional Secretary of NPP, Isaac Alitu told Radio Ghana that the party had earlier met with representatives of the contestants and agreed on certain decisions.
Regional Police Commander DCOP Aboagye Nyarko said four hotspots have been identified and spoke about plans put in place to forestall any eventuality.
The Regional Director of EC Ali Adamu Osman said the EC is fully prepared for the exercise and appealed to all stakeholders to comport themselves during and after the exercise.
