Ninety-three Parliamentary candidates made up of 81 males and 12 females have filed their nomination to contest this year’s parliamentary election in the Eastern Region.
The Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Faith Amedzake disclosed this in an interview with our Correspondent in Koforidua.
According to her, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) filed in all the 33 constituencies in the region whiles the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) filed for 11 constituencies.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the Liberal Party Ghana (LPG) filed in three Constituencies. While the People’s National Convention (PNC), National Democratic Party (NDP) and the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) filed in one constituency each with seven independent candidates.
She said all their names and particulars have been forwarded to EC Head office for processing.
She advised the candidates to go about their campaign devoid of insult and chaos for peace to prevail before, during and after the elections.
