Adwoa Safo requests Leave of Absence from Parliament

On the GTV Breakfast Show, March 4, 2022, Majority Leader, Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, disclosed that the Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has requested Leave of Absence from Parliament.

The Majority Leader confirmed that the Dome-Kwabenya MP has officially written to the Speaker making the request in a letter

dated 28th February, 2022 which was presented to the Speaker.

‘’She is seeking permission to be out, and her PA sent me a copy’’,

Mr. Osei -Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said in a telephone interview, with Host Thelma Tackie.

In an answer to the question whether the Speaker would grant the Leave of Absence, Mr. Kyei Mensah- Bonsu replied, ”I cannot also tell if the Speaker has agreed to the extension’’.

The Dome-Kwabenya MP has been the subject of controversy from some of her colleagues for absenting herself from Parliament since the current Parliament began sitting.

Madam Adwoa Safo has been accused of holding the Majority Caucus at bay considering the numbers needed to pass the controversial E-levy Bill.

The Dome-Kwabenya MP has been accused of requesting to be made the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, a position she held in the previous Parliament, and had decided to stay away from Parliament because her demand had not been met.
