Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accepted full responsibility for the confusion that erupted during the vetting of ministerial nominees last week.
Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the Effutu MP admitted that the disruptions had caused public concern and asked Speaker Alban Bagbin to reconsider his decision regarding the matter.
“Mr Speaker, I take full responsibility as a leader on my side for all actions that took place,” Afenyo-Markin said. He also urged the Speaker to reverse his ruling and any related consequences.
The vetting session was marred by heated arguments, leading the Speaker to form a special committee to investigate. Additionally, four MPs—two from each side of the House—were suspended due to their roles in the chaos.
The suspended MPs include Minority Chief Whip Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh, as well as Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli and Jerry Ahmed Shaib.
