President Nana Akufo-Addo will speak to the people of Ghana tonight, Sunday, October 30, 2022, in an address that would outline measures to tackle the country’s economic concerns.
The President’s  address is expected to give an update on the current negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, IMF on the economic recovery program and the auterities to address the fall of the Cedi against major currencies.
The Minister for information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that Cabinet has wrapped up a three day retreat “during which President Akufo-Addo has settled on key decisions aimed at responding strongly to the impact of the global economic challenges on Ghana”.
Prior to the Cabinet meeting, President Akufo-Addo met with key stakeholders at the Jubilee House in Accra at various levels of consultation and deliberations to seek input and buy-in, especially in the on-going IMF negotiations.
Some of the stakeholders included the Ghana Association of Industries, AGI, Ghana Employers Association, Forex Bureau Operators, Trade Union Congress among others.
The President’s intervention comes in the wake of calls for the removal of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, by some Majority Members of Parliament.
On October 25, 2022, some members of the Majority Caucus in Parliament called for the dismissal of the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta. According to them, the decision is based on issues of lack of confidence and for non-performance.
President Akufo-Addo however, asked for more time for the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to conclude negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In an interview, some citizens say they expect to hear in specific terms what steps are being taken by the government to bring some economic discipline into the daily lives of the people.

President Akufo-Addo’s broadcast to the nation tonight will be carried on major networks across the country.
