Ghana is not broke- Akufo-Addo

In his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) on January 3, 2025, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed confidence in Ghana’s economic recovery, stating that the economy has performed better than expected.

Speaking in Parliament, the President assured Ghanaians that the country is not in financial distress, despite facing several challenges in recent years. He credited the progress to strategic government policies aimed at stabilizing the economy.

President Akufo-Addo highlighted Ghana’s successful participation in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme. He noted that the third review was approved on December 2, 2024, leading to a $360 million disbursement to support economic recovery.

Reflecting on the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact, the President acknowledged the hardships it brought but emphasized the nation’s resilience and steady recovery. He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the economy for long-term growth and stability.
