The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says he should be held responsible for the country’s economy challenges, explaining that the President of the Republic is vested with the executive power of the state and has ultimate responsibility.
In what seems to be a direct response to some critical voices who have expressed concerns about the poor showing of the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, President Akufo-Addo said the “buck stops with the President”.
This comes in the wake of criticisms about Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his recent assertion of being a mere assistance to the President in the governance.
The president delivering the 2024 State of the Nation (SONA), on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, on the floor of parliament, unequivocally accepted responsibility for the current ‘economic challenges’, emphasising that executive powers are ultimately vested in the hands of the president.
According to him, as the leader, he or she assumes the blame for the difficulties faced by the nation.
President Akufo-Addo also emphasised the government’s intentional efforts in strategic planning to ensure the safety and security of Ghana.
He highlighted that Ghana has remained unaffected by the extremism witnessed in neighbouring countries due to meticulous planning.
The President again underscored the commitment of his government to see to the well-being of the armed forces and all security agencies, emphasising the allocation of resources to ensure their readiness.
