Former Presidential Flagbearer contestant of the New Patriotic Party and Former Trade and Industry Minister of Ghana, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has bemoaned some unfair treatment meted out to him by various leadership and elders of the New Patriotic Party as he announced his resignation from the Elephant party.

Mr. Alan Kyerematen in a press conference on September 25, 2023, officially announced his resignation from the New Patriotic Party and his intention to run for the 2024 Presidential race as an independent Candidate under a new formed movement called Movement For Change.

In his speech, the former Flagbearer contestant raised some concerns of harsh and unfair treatment he and his supporters had received from the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party. He added that despite his attempts to get his concerns attended to, his pleas were not heeded to by the party leaders and elders.

“Despite the sacrifices that I made to unite the party as referred to above, there were very serious post-primary attacks on my supporters, all over the country”, he stated.

He further revealed that over the years as a staunch member of the party, he saw and observed an open hostility meted out to him. He shared an open view that the actions of the party over the few years resonated an unappreciative gesture towards him. He therefore made his intentions officially to resign from the party and run independently in 2024.
