As part of his campaign tour, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, an independent presidential aspirant made a stop in Sunyani to engage with market women and the broader community.
He pledged to wage a war against corruption when voted for as president in the upcoming December 7 polls.
In an interview with Sunyani-based Ark FM, Mr. Kyerematen reiterated his unyielding stance on corruption, something he said has severely hindered the nation’s progress.
“The fight against corruption starts at the top,” he said and added, “I have never been corrupt and will never be corrupt. My record is open for every Ghanaian to scrutinise,” he said.
He emphasised the urgent need for a leader who not only embodies integrity but also enforces it among the ranks of government, saying “We need a leader who is not just free from corruption but one who will have zero tolerance for any form of corruption within his administration.”
Central to his Great Transformational Plan, Mr Kyerematen proposed a bold and comprehensive reform: the consolidation of all anti-corruption institutions into a single formidable body.
This new entity, he explained, would be led by a corruption Czar, endowed with independent prosecutorial powers, free from the influence of the Attorney General. “This Czar will have the authority to prosecute anyone, including the president,” he stated.
He also added that “lifestyle audits of government officials will be routine,” and stressed that the purpose for the lifestyle audits was “to ensure that no one lives beyond their legitimate means.”
Mr Alan Kyerematen further pledged robust support to watchdog entities such as civil society organisations, saying. “CSOs will be empowered to play their roles effectively, ensuring that the government and its appointees adhere strictly to the law.”
